About Michele

With more than 25 years of experience in behavioral healthcare, Michele brings together clinical expertise, executive leadership, and the powerful perspective of lived experience. She currently serves as Clinical Director at Pathways Treatment Center NJ, where she provides clinical leadership and helps shape trauma-informed, person-centered treatment for individuals navigating substance use and mental health challenges.

Michele holds credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), and has completed doctoral-level studies as an ABD doctoral candidate. Her clinical work has focused extensively on trauma, complex PTSD, addiction, depression, emotional regulation, relationships, boundaries, and the lasting impact of adverse life experiences.

Her work is deeply informed by more than two decades of personal recovery. Rather than separating professional expertise from lived experience, Michele has built her career around the belief that the two can work powerfully together. She understands recovery not simply as the absence of symptoms or substances, but as a process of rebuilding the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

That philosophy has become the foundation of her signature message:

“Breaking Barriers Through Grit, Building Bridges Through Grace.”

Michele’s influence extends beyond the therapy room and treatment center. As an international speaker, she has been invited to share her expertise and story on stages in the United States and abroad, addressing trauma-informed leadership, women’s empowerment, resilience, mental health, addiction, and the intersection between personal healing and professional leadership. Her keynote, “Leading with Grace and Grit: Trauma-Informed Leadership for Women on the Global Stage,” challenges leaders to recognize that strength and compassion are not opposing qualities—they are essential partners in meaningful leadership.

International media and magazine features have also recognized her professional journey and perspective, highlighting her contributions to behavioral healthcare, leadership, advocacy, and women’s empowerment.

At the center of Michele’s work is a simple but powerful conviction: people are more than the hardest things that have happened to them.

Whether she is sitting across from a client, supervising clinicians, leading a behavioral health program, speaking from an international stage, writing about her own journey, or advocating for people whose voices have too often been overlooked, Michele’s mission remains the same—to reduce stigma, create meaningful connection, and remind people that healing and transformation remain possible even after profound adversity.

Her life and career embody the message she carries into every room:

"Grit helps us survive what tried to break us. Grace helps us become more than what happened to us."
