What does crack smell like?

Crack is most commonly used by heating up the rocks in a pipe or on aluminum foil and inhaling the resulting fumes/smoke. The smell of the fumes can vary depending on what chemicals have been used when making it, commonly referred to as “cutting”.

Most people report that crack as a smell similar to burnt plastic or rubber but can occasionally resemble paint, gasoline, and other chemical substances.

Aside from this, crack also affects olfactory neurons in the same way as the powdered form of cocaine. Extended or high abuse can affect the user's sense of smell and taste buds, meaning they can tend to have a loss of smell and taste altogether over time.

What does crack look like?

Crack cocaine most commonly comes in the form of small rocks, chunks, or chips that are usually white, off-white, or soft pink color.

When bought in small amounts, often a gram or less, they will come in small clear bags known as baggies. It can also come in wraps, which are often folded bits of card paper or small pieces of twisted saran wrap or plastic grocery bags. It is possible to buy crack in large amounts but the appearance will still normally be the same.

What does crack taste like?

Crack users will occasionally put the rocks into their mouths to check for purity. The taste is reportedly bitter but can taste like chemicals if there are high amounts of cutting agents and sometimes has a salty taste due to the alkaloids used.

Drug dealers use various products to cut crack cocaine, some of which can be harmful. Pure cocaine is often heavily cut when making crack in order to spread the amount of cocaine and increase profits.
